Horses groom naturally
Horses have a natural instinct to groom: they do this by rolling on the ground or rubbing themselves against things like tree branches.
If horses are kept together they will indulge in mutual grooming, using their teeth to nibble those hard-to-reach places on another horse, and receiving the same in return.
TIP
- Don’t get upset if your horse gets “dirty” by rolling on the ground. In fact, your horse is helping to exfoliate their skin and shed dead hair and skin cells. And remember, most horses simply enjoy the absolute pleasure of rolling every now and then!
