Maintaining Hoof Moisture

Maintaining a certain level of moisture in the hoof is important to help prevent the wall of the hoof from chipping and cracking, and to make sure that the hoof is strong enough and flexible enough to act as an effective shock absorber.

If your horse's environment contains hard, dry pastures or paddocks, then the hooves can become dry and more prone to injury. Ask your farrier or vet to recommend a good quality hoof dressing that you can use to keep your horse's hooves well moisturised and in good condition.
